The Carmoon Group, Ltd. Launches Scholarship Fund for Carriacou’s Bishop’s College

Students at Bishop's College will benefit from scholarship fund

The Carmoon Group, Ltd. is pleased to announce the creation of a scholarship fund to benefit Bishop’s College Secondary School in Carriacou, Grenada. In keeping with its long-held commitment to higher education, the company will award $1,000 (US) to the Bishop’s College Secondary School student who, in the judgement of the faculty, demonstrates the highest level of academic achievement each year. The award will be used to pay the top-performing student’s tuition at Grenada’s T. A. Marryshow Community College for a period of two years.

The company will continue to fund the scholarship program for a minimum of 10 years, beginning September 2019.

In choosing Bishop’s College Secondary School as the beneficiary of this award, the Carmoon Group honors its deep roots in the Carriacou community. Company founders Floyd Arthur and Lydia Andrew both hail from the tiny Caribbean island and have expressed their commitment to promote positive change for the people who live there. “Educational empowerment has always been a passion of mine” said Bryant Arthur, Carmoon’s current CEO. “I intend to have our company serve as the catalyst to impact change on the island of Carriacou for many years to come.”

Speaking about the scholarship earlier this month, Bishop’s College Principal (A.g) Ms. Indra Scott expressed her “sincere appreciation and gratitude” for the scholarship fund. “The gesture will encourage improved performance from our students,” she said. “We want to say thank you for choosing Bishop’s College and we look forward to partnering with you to help in the overall development and opportunity of education for our students and the nation’s on a whole.”

The Carmoon Group is a family owned insurance brokerage headquartered in Hicksville, New York, that offers insurance and risk management solutions to businesses throughout the United States. In 2017, the company expanded operations to the Dominican Republic, where it serves clients from the Caribbean islands.
